Last year brought me some great memories and new opportunities. One of which was the transition to shooting all of my weddings with Bellus. I'm able to offer my clients so much more and at the same time, work with a great group of people the really push me creatively. As of January, this move is final. What does this mean for SP&D? Here is the breakdown:

*All of my weddings for the 2012 season and beyond will be shot with Bellus. Whether you find me through our site or theirs, everything from pricing, processing, and ordering will be handled by Bellus. Current clients will continue to work directly with SP&D to fulfill and finish their orders.

*SP&D will continue shooting senior and family sessions! We're in the process of overhauling our package structure for both and will have that ready soon. Any session booked for this year will be completed in house with Anna and I. 

*Design services will still be available as well. Keep us in mind for custom save the dates, senior party invites, or holiday cars.

]]> http://strohmphotography.com/blog/2012/02/2012-and-beyond.html http://strohmphotography.com/blog/2012/02/2012-and-beyond.html Personal Sat, 04 Feb 2012 13:29:08 -0600 It's that time of year again! ]]> http://strohmphotography.com/blog/2011/11/its-that-time-of-year-again.html http://strohmphotography.com/blog/2011/11/its-that-time-of-year-again.html Sat, 12 Nov 2011 18:45:51 -0600 Shelby & Marcus - engagement Everyone who knows me well jokes about how terrible I am at answering my cell phone!  I'm not sure what it is...it's always on silent, or in my purse, or in the car and I hardly ever answer a call or text right away.  Shelby was my roommate our freshman year in college and one of my very best friends.  The night before her birthday I missed a call from her because my phone was on silent.  I was just about to call her back (only about two minutes later), when John's cell phone rang and it was her.  Right then, I knew that Marcus had proposed!!  John answered the phone and chatted with her for a few minutes while I was chasing him around trying to talk to her myself.  I couldn't be happier for Shelby & Marcus and can't wait to be a part of their special day next August.

John and I traveled to Panora, IA for this session and were so glad that we did!  We went to several different areas for the session so we captured a lot of different looks.  It was really fun to shoot with such close friends and also to be in a totally different location!  We both love all of Marcus & Shelby's natural reactions.  You can tell that they are so in love and absolutely perfect for each other.

Shooting weddings, families, seniors, and even engagement sessions during the fall is definitely one of our favorite things to do. We don't have to deal with the extreme heat of summer or the frequent rain of spring and the colors are perfect. Here are just a few favorites!

This is the first Saturday in a long while that I haven't been charging batteries and prepping for the day's session. Instead, I have a little time to work in the office! As much as we enjoy working with our clients, it's nice to be able to sit down and get some images on the blog!

Matt and I shot Elizabeth & Nathan's wedding this summer. It's one of the few 2011 weddings we shot as the "Bellus" crew which was pretty fun. Despite the hot and humid weather all day, I absolutely love the images we captured. 

It was great meeting with Elizabeth and Nathan a few weeks back and hearing all the nice things they had to say about their photos. We're truly fortunate to work with such wonderful people!

I shot back to back weddings this weekend and am pretty drained so hopefully I can get some rest this afternoon.

Kate and Ben's wedding was fantastic in so many ways. The ceremony, reception, details, weather, wedding party, and especially the couple was amazing! On top of all of that, we had so much time to shoot. The amount of different shots we got that day really highlights how important the planning of the day really is. Kate works for The Knot so she was an expert!

We've had the opportunity to get to know them both well over the past year and couldn't have been happier with their wedding images. I know for a fact that Laura pays close attention to the blog as well so hopefully I did their wedding justice with this post!

On another note, Totally Rad just came out with a new photoshop plugin called RadLab. Essentially, it's a set of stylets that can be applied independently or in combination to photos. The options are nearly endless and I thought I'd try a bit of a new look for this post. It isn't a major difference from our normal processing but I really love it. Let me know what you think!

Despite multiple weather delays with a few of the couples below, they all ended up with beautiful and unique sessions. As I browsed through each couple's photos, I found it hard to pick my favorites. Hopefully I did each session justice! 

On another note, one thing I love and hope you notice too is the quality of the light. It really pays to shoot in great light. All three sessions were either in the morning or evening with gives us wonderful color to work with in a variety of locations. We can shoot more and really use the area we are working in. If only every wedding could be scheduled around perfect light!

I'm starting on a new wedding post right after this so stay tuned!

It's really hard to describe the scope and magnitude of the Grand Canyon. I couldn't really comprehend that I was seeing something that took millions of years to form when I was there. The photos really can't do it justice compared to seeing it in person. Anyway, here's one of my favorites!

I've been meaning to get their photos up for a while now and finally found the time this evening. I'm happy I did because I really love their session.

We worked with this couple last fall when the colors downtown were spectacular. It's funny how each season can contribute such a unique look to a location. The oranges, reds, and yellows were just awesome. Combine that with a great couple who is fun and natural and you can guarantee a pretty successful session! We're looking forward to Kelsey & Josh's wedding this October.

We had so much to catch up on from last year as our site was under construction for quite a while last Fall and Winter. I'm working hard to stay on track this year!

Anna and I shot at some of our favorite spots downtown and were fortunate to be able to use the Durham Museum as well for Ashley & Matt's portraits. Having such a variety of textures and locations makes the session so much better for us and our clients! I love the way all of the photos turned out and am excited to get to work on their album and prints. Congrats Ashely & Matt!
